Just wanted to highlight my two favorite Advent records here. The first is Behold the Lamb of God, which tells the story of the Bible leading up to the birth of Jesus and traces the longing for a Savior from the beginning. Andrew Peterson takes his friends on tour every year to play it, and you should go hear it live if you get the chance! (I’ve been three times so far in my life and would eagerly go again.)

The second is Rain for Roots’ album Waiting Songs. I wrote more about why I love this record so much and why it means so much to our family in 2015, but the short version is that it’s music designed for children but done with such expertise and care that you can’t help but love it as an adult. It speaks to the joy of Christmas but also the hope and pain of waiting in Advent. I really treasure this record and I think you will, too.

As a bonus, I’m going to add three other favorite Christmas songs:
